So I recentely finished an awesome book about radios, the Baofeng UV-5R series specifically. The book is "The Guerrilla's Guide To The Baofeng Radio" by NC Scout. It is an awesome book that will get you very familiar with the UV-5R platform. I can't recommend it enough. It teaches the everyday uses and tactical uses. It will also help you understand frequiences and how to build homemade antennas with things you probably have laying around.
